Improvement of Production Technology of C5 Petroleum Resin

In the choice of catalyst and washing process improvements we achieved satisfactory results:
(1) The original process to solid AlCl3 as a catalyst, the yield is high, but C5 fractions drop time is long, usually about 6 ~ 8h, now switch to liquid AlCl3 as catalyst, shortening the reaction time, and yield significantly decreased;
(2) The original process to ethanol removal of catalyst, high cost, easy to emulsify, and difficult to recover ethanol, now use the addition of demulsifier alkaline water method, not only effectively solve the problem of emulsification and catalyst removal, and greatly reduced the cost, simplifying the process. Production practice has proved that the improved C5 petroleum resin production process has more industrial production value.

400 L of a xylene solvent and 24 kg of an AlCl3 solid powder were charged into the autoclave. The 800LC5 fraction was slowly added dropwise to the kettle under stirring, and the reaction temperature was controlled not to exceed 36C by cooling water, and the dropping time was about 6 to 8 hours. After the dropwise addition, the reaction was continued for 2 h. The polymerization solution was washed with an ethanol-water solution, neutralized to remove the catalyst, and then separated by standing to remove trace water. C5 petroleum resin and mixed solvent oil were obtained by distillation under reduced pressure. The mixed solvent oil is then fractionally fractionated to obtain C5 residual fraction and solvent which are not involved in the polymerization, and the solvent is recovered.

In the production process of C5 petroleum resin, AlCl3 catalyst was used instead of AlCl3 catalyst. The reaction time was shortened by 2 to 3 times compared with the original AlCl3 catalyst. The reaction process was stable and the amount of catalyst was reduced, and the process of washing was alleviated. Demulsifier A avoids the emulsification phenomenon of water washing process, so that washing time than the original process time by 4 to 5 times, and greatly reduces the cost of production and energy consumption, product quality has improved.
